Raymond has carried on an extremely varied and far ranging practice as a counsel before all levels of courts, boards and administrative tribunals in the Province of Ontario. He has tried and argued cases before County and District Courts and the Supreme Court of Ontario (in the days before amalgamation) the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal, Ontario Court of Justice, the Federal Court Trial Division and the Federal Court of Appeal. He has argued leave applications in the Supreme Court of Canada and argued the Veterans Pension case in the Supreme Court of Canada. He has appeared before such administrative tribunals as the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Canada Labour Relations Board, the Ontario Municipal Board, the Discipline Committees and various Health Disciplines, the Federal Security Intelligence Review Committee and numerous commercial and labour arbitration boards.

Raymond has enjoyed taking on cases that tested or developed principles of law in these various forums. He has litigated cases involving criminal law, Charter Rights, constitutional separation of powers, municipal, educational, administrative, environmental, commercial and insurance law. Several dozen of his cases have been reported.

As counsel in these varied fields, Raymond learned much about how people, businesses and institutions function. He has, at various times, immersed himself in the intricacies of medicine, engineering, construction, accounting, economics, biology, chemistry, history, psychology and sociology. He had to learn, at various times, how bridges are built, how national security intelligence is gathered, how cheques clear the bank, the physics of moving bodies, and how memories are lost and recovered. A litigation practice like Raymond's is always challenging. Creativity and innovation are necessary prerequisites.
